Day Two

This morning you will embark on a city and temples tour. This tour takes in three of Bangkok’s most famous temples, plus the iconic Grand Palace. The first on the tour; Wat Trimit houses a 700-year-old, three-meter tall golden statue, cast from five-and-a-half tons of solid gold which makes it the world's largest solid gold statue. Wat Pho features one of the largest reclining Buddha images in Thailand. It is also known as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, situated in the Grand Palace complex, otherwise known as Wat Phra Kaew is regarded as the most sacred temple in the kingdom. It is home to the Emerald Buddha, a dark green statue which has been carved from a single jade stone. You will spend your afternoon at leisure.




Day Three

Today you will set off to take a road-trip to Kanchanaburi to visit the infmaous River Kwai. Kanchanaburi province holds a more sombre message than most of Thai tourist destinations due to its dark history during WWII. Travel back to 1943 and immerse yourself in the story. Visit Thailand-Burma Railway Museum which reflects the cruel time in which the POWs has to endure; the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai and the story behind; pay respect to the Allied War cemetery and take a train ride on the notorious Death Railway. After your excursion you will be transferred back to the hotel and your evening will be spent at leisure. 

 




Day Four

This morning you will road transfer to Ayuthaya and check-in to your hotel. You will then explore the former capital of Thailand with a local guide. Here you can discover ancient ruins and art works which have remained in the city since 1350. After exploring Ayuthaya’s quaint mixture of European and Thai architecture, lunch will be provided at a local restaurant. The remainder of the day will be spent at leisure.




Day Five

After your breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer further north to Phitsanulok, a major regional commercial centre, spread along the banks of the Nan River. Visit the much-venerated shire of Wat Mahathat, which is home to Thailand’s most beautiful Buddha image. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Then continue to Sukhothai where you will visit Sukhothai Historical Park, now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire beautiful standing Buddha statues as you explore the many ruined temples and monasteries. You will overnight at a hotel in Sukhothai.




Day Six

After breakfast, you will travel further north to Chiang Mai. On arrival you will check-in and have lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, you will visit to the 600 year-old temple of Wat Pra That Doi Suthep, near the summit of Doi Suthep mountain. After a drive up the mountain’s winding road, the final climb to the site is via a magnificent Naga (dragon-headed serpent) staircase of 306 steps. Inside is an intriguing copper-plated chedi topped by a five-tier gold umbrella which contains partial relics of Lord Buddha. On a clear day, there are incomparable views over the city of Chiang Mai. Other temple visits on this tour include: Wat Suan Dok, whose large central stupa contains the ashes of Chiang Mai’s royal family; Wat Chedi Luang, where the Emerald Buddha was once enshrined; and Wat Phra Singh, housing a very sacred 1,500-year-old Buddha image. You will later return to the hotel and spend the evening at leisure.

Today you will check-out of your hotel in Chiang Mai and travel to the airport ready for your onward flight to Phuket where you will spend the remainder of your holiday on the pristine beaches of Thailand’s Andaman Coast. On arrival you will check-in to your hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.
