The northern line train typically departs Bangkok around 09:05 hrs., with an average travel time of 4-5 hours to reach Phitsanulok.

Upon arrival at Phitsanulok Railway Station, make a stop at a local restaurant for a quick lunch before proceeding to the Sgt. Maj. Thawee Folklore Museum, situated on Wisutthikasat Road. Owned by Sgt. Thawee, this museum is a repository of Thailand's folk heritage, showcasing a diverse collection of folk arts, basketry, pottery, and ancient kitchen utensils. Additionally, it features instruments used in agriculture and household activities, offering insight into traditional Thai life.

Next, visit Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, known as the Temple of Great Jeweled Reliquary. Dating back to the 14th century, this royal temple is located on the bank of the Nan River near the Naresuan Bridge. Its grand wihan boasts an imposing entrance adorned with mother-of-pearl inserts donated by King Boromakot in 1756. Inside the wihan, a Khmer-style prang enshrines relics of the Buddha and can be accessed via a staircase. The temple is renowned for its golden Buddha image, Phra Phuttha Chinnarat, considered one of the most beautiful Buddha images in the country. Afterward, drive to Sukhothai, where you will check in to your accommodation and have the remainder of the day to relax and explore at your leisure.

Day 5: Sukhothai

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, you will proceed to the Sukhothai Historical Park.
Sukhothai, the inaugural capital city of Thailand, thrived from the mid-13th century to the late 14th century, representing a golden age of Thai culture. Its boundaries extended from Lampang in the north to present-day Vientiane in Laos, and from the south to the Malay Peninsula. Today, the remnants of that illustrious era stand as a testament to our heritage, providing insight into one of the ancient cities recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Located opposite the Ramkhamhaeng National Museum, the Sukhothai Historical Park encompasses numerous fascinating sites. Among the most renowned are the central and northern sections, which include Wat Mahathat (the largest and most aesthetically pleasing area within the park), Wat Si Sawai (a temple featuring Kamphaeng style architecture), and Wat Si Chum (home to the imposing and iconic Buddha statues). Following exploration, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel.
Afternoon/evening at leisure

Day 6: Sukhothai

In the early morning, drive to Wat Thraphangthong for the ritual morning alms giving, known as ‘Tak Bat’. This custom is practiced in other Buddhist countries like Laos and helps sustain the monastic community. It is a concept in Buddhism, and Hinduism as well, wherein good deeds or thoughts bring good karma either in this life or the next. On the way back to the hotel, stop at Wat Sapan Hin to discover the meaning of the dawn of happiness.

After returning to the hotel for breakfast, take a shower and prepare for the next late morning program. You will proceed to Sri Satchanalai, meaning ‘City of good people’, founded in 1250 as the second center of the Sukhothai Kingdom. This Park attracts thousands of visitors each year who marvel at the ancient Buddha figures, palace buildings, and ruined temples. The Park is easily toured by bicycle or on foot.

Continue to the Sathorn Golden Textile Museum, which presents the complete history and background of ancient hand-woven cloth by the Phan people of Ban Hat Siew. These include Hat Siew pattern cloths (Jok Kao), cloth used in ordination ceremonies with elephants, cloth used in wedding ceremonies, and more. All of them are unique hand-woven cloth made by the Phan people in Ban Hat Siew for hundreds of years. The museum also features over-hundred-year-old golden silk sarongs and new sarongs woven for wedding ceremonies. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant before heading back to the hotel.
