Itinerary
Day 1 - Pisa - Montecarlo
Arrive in Pisa, collect your car from the airport and drive the 50 kilometres to your first hotel, Fattoria La Torre located in Montecarlo, a magical medieval town that sits above the Lucca plain. The centre has been able to maintain, over time, the medieval beauty and elegance of its origins: the graceful houses, the orderly streets, everything enchants the visitor, but above all its square, a broad belvedere overlooking the wildest, most mountainous Tuscany.
Overnight in Montecarlo.
Day 2 - Lucca - Pisa
Start your day with a drive to Lucca, a city famed for its "hundred churches" and magnificent medieval city walls. Access the historic centre through one of the seven gates in the walls, which are perfect for a leisurely walk or cycle. During your visit, explore highlights such as the 'Amphitheater', marketplace, and a unique oval-shaped piazza tracing its Roman origins. Other must-see attractions include San Michele Square, featuring the stunning Church of San Michele in Foro, and the elegant Palazzo Pretorio.
In the afternoon, head to Pisa, a city internationally renowned for its iconic Leaning Tower. Spend your time marvelling at the architectural wonders of the Square of Miracles, including the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, a masterpiece of Italian design; the majestic Baptistery with its hexagonal pulpit by Nicola Pisano; and the Campo Santo, a remarkable cemetery designed as a monumental cloister.
Overnight in Montecarlo.
Day 3-4 - Florence
It’s time to delve further into the largest art capital of the world with your next stop: Renowned as the world’s cultural capital, Florence is bursting at the seams with Renaissance architecture, historical artworks and famous sights, but there’s more to this place than the Statue of David, the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio. Look a little closer and you’ll find that the streets are alive with youthful energy; take a while to browse the high-end shops and soak up the Italian atmosphere. After a busy day of exploring the impressive Uffizi or snapping the majestic Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, head to a typical restaurant for a traditional Italian meal.
Overnight in the Florence Area.
Day 5 - Chianti and Siena
Begin your day with a scenic drive through the Chianti region, famed for its rolling hills, vineyards, and olive groves. Visit a local Chianti winery to sample its celebrated wines and learn about the winemaking process.
Continue to Siena, a medieval masterpiece known for its red-brick buildings and the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo. Climb the Torre del Mangia for panoramic views or explore Siena by night to witness its charm illuminated.
Overnight in Asciano or San Gimignano.
Day 6 - Monteriggioni - San Gimignano
Visit Monteriggioni, a perfectly preserved medieval village enclosed by a 600-metre wall with towers that inspired Dante’s Divine Comedy. Stroll through its charming streets and soak in its timeless atmosphere.
Continue to San Gimignano, renowned for its medieval towers and picturesque views. Explore the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, the Palazzo del Popolo, and the Piazza della Cisterna. Don’t miss the chance to savour artisan gelato at Gelateria Dondoli.
