Umbria Self-Drive Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Umbria
Arrive at your chosen airport and collect your rental car before driving to your hotel near Assisi. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, settling in and exploring the surroundings. Overnight in Assisi.
Day 2 – Assisi: A Spiritual and Artistic Gem
Just a short drive away, the hilltop town of Assisi is best known as the birthplace of St Francis. Wander through its well-preserved medieval centre and visit the magnificent Basilica of St Francis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire Giotto’s renowned frescoes in the Upper Basilica and experience the sombre beauty of the Lower Basilica before returning to your hotel.
Day 3 – The Medieval Charm of Todi
Travel to Todi, a picturesque medieval town perched on a hill. Explore Piazza del Popolo, the city’s historic heart, where you’ll find the People’s Palace and Captain’s Palace. Discover the underground Roman cisterns, browse traditional artisan shops, and soak in the breathtaking views from Piazza Garibaldi before heading back to your hotel.
Day 4 – Spoleto and a Wine Tasting Experience

Spend a leisurely day at Lake Trasimeno, taking a scenic boat ride to Isola Maggiore, the only inhabited island on the lake. Discover a quaint fishing village dating back to the 15th century and visit centuries-old churches. Enjoy some free time before returning to the lakeshore.
Day 8 – Departure
After breakfast, drive back to the airport and return your rental car before boarding your flight home.
