12-Night Rocky Mountaineer Rail & Alaska Cruise – Banff Departure
DAY 1 – Arrival in Calgary/Banff
On Day 1 of your adventure, touch down at Calgary's International Airport and embark on a scenic transfer to the charming parkland town of Banff. Upon arriving, settle into your hotel and embrace the afternoon to wander through the idyllic streets. Delve into the town's unique charm by exploring its diverse shops, savouring local eateries, and discovering the array of attractions scattered throughout Banff. Allow yourself to be captivated by the picturesque surroundings and the welcoming atmosphere that sets the tone for the unforgettable journey ahead.
DAY 2 – Banff
Embark on a captivating 9-hour excursion through the most cherished landscapes of the Canadian Rockies, delving into the heart of Banff and Yoho National Parks. Witness the transformative journey of the land and its role in shaping the breathtaking natural wonders that grace these mountainous settings. The highlights of this tour are a panorama of iconic sites, including Lake Louise, the Valley of the Ten Peaks, Spiral Tunnels, and the majestic Takakkaw Falls. Enjoy a warm lunch at the Emerald Lake Lodge and benefit from the expertise of a dedicated onboard host who enhances your journey with insights.
Passengers travelling in May and June may experience unique stops, as the opening of the Takakkaw Falls road is contingent on snow conditions. Flexibility is key, and alternate stops like Johnston Canyon, Marble Canyon, Field Visitor Centre, and Natural Rock Bridge may be organised during road closures, ensuring an unforgettable experience shaped by the stunning Canadian Rockies. Please note that the itinerary is subject to the driver's discretion on the day of travel, and the tour duration may fluctuate between 7 hours, 30 minutes, and 9 hours.
DAY 3 – Banff
Day 3 unfolds with a full day of leisure in Banff, allowing you to immerse yourself in the splendours of one of Canada's renowned mountain resort towns. Revel in the freedom to tailor your day's activities to your preferences. Opt for a wildlife tour to witness the diverse large animals in their natural habitats or embark on a guided hike along the myriad trails that either start in the town or stem from nearby trailheads along the highway.
DAY 4 – Rocky Mountaineer Banff to Kamloops
Day 4 marks the beginning of an extraordinary journey as you board the Rocky Mountaineer at Banff Station at 7:30 am. Brace yourself for a day of breathtaking vistas as the train meanders through the majestic Canadian Rockies, passing by glaciers, snow-capped peaks and traversing mountain passes and tunnels. Along the way, witness the awe-inspiring Continental Divide, the engineering marvel of the Spiral Tunnels, the rugged beauty of Kicking Horse Canyon, the historic Rogers Pass, and the iconic Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven.
DAY 5 – Rocky Mountaineer Kamloops to Vancouver
On Day 5, your adventure continues as you board the Rocky Mountaineer train at Kamloops Station at 7:35 am. The westward journey unfolds with a panorama of ever-changing landscapes, transitioning from the desert-like interior through winding river canyons and pristine forests, culminating in the grandeur of the Coast and Cascade Mountains and the verdant fields of the Fraser Valley.
DAYS 6–12 – Alaskan Cruise
On Days 6 through 12, your journey takes a maritime turn as you check out of your hotel and embark on a seamless transfer to Vancouver's cruise terminal. Here, you step aboard the Emerald Princess cruise ship, initiating a seven-night Alaskan Cruise experience.
